Hi, I'm Marco!

Marco Ferrari The Lingo Dude

Who I am...

Born and raised near Venice, I was lucky enough to grow up in a multilingual environment, which gave me a huge passion for languages, travels, meeting new people and getting in touch with new cultures.
In my free time, my biggest passion is learning new languages, sports (jogging, tennis and Netflixing... that's a sport, right?), pizza and scuba diving.
I am also a decent cook and by decent I mean I haven't intoxicated anyone so far. I guess that's something...
I have lived in many amazing places, from Spain to the US, from the UK to Singapore. I am currently living in Paris, where I found love (cliché alert!) and I live there with my family.
I am the proud dad of two very cute but not so quiet twins who keep me awake at night.

Why teaching...

I had been working many years in retail, always involved in teaching side of things: creation of workshops, learn up's and so on. I have been a language teacher for more than 10 years with methodology and academic training in institutions like Alliance Française or Università di Siena. Teaching languages has always been a core task and mission of mine, accompanying people from all sorts of backgrounds and with very different needs: adults, kids, university students, migrants and so on.
The mere act of sharing my knowledge and helping people achieve their tasks makes me deeply happy. I don't know if you are familiar with the concept of  "ikigai" but I can proudly say I found mine.
Teaching is, in my eyes, my own way to give back a little bit of everything I have been receiving and for that, I am extremely grateful to be able to do this on a daily basis.

Why me...

The fact that I can speak 8 languages makes me perfectly fit to explain a language easily using the one you speak in a more efficient way, creating mnemonic tools that will make you learn steadily in the long term. I know how daunting it can be at the beginning but I also know how to remove all barriers and hindrances to make the knowledge stick forever in the long term memory. I am very empathetic and I always do my best to find the best way to connect with people, making the most of every lesson and boosting the learning curb to the max.
I tend to use humour (a lot!) to make you feel at ease and therefore be more receptive of the language using similar techniques as the ones used when you learned your native language.
Find our more below on my method and how the lessons are generally structured.

Why languages...

Languages are my biggest passion and I've always wanted them to become my job. Work and have fun: so cool, right?
On a social level, they have helped me to have a bird's eye view on life and all its aspects. They increased my understanding of different cultures, learning to be more acceptant, respectful and appreciate differences. The richness I found in exploring the world, being able to understand points of view not similar to mine and come home every time with something more in my "life backpack" is just priceless and I like to think I am on a mission to help other people discover that.
Not to forget that languages let you unlock a new level in life by expanding your horizons to new literatures, cuisines, music, cinema and much more.
